Mastering time management will make a big difference not only in your work life but also in your personal one as well. It’s a ongoing process that would require discipline, commitment and of course, the right tools.
You can actually create your very own time management system right in Daily Notes by doing the following:
Compartmentalize your activities or goals.
Create a Tab for each aspect of your life or goals. Label them accordingly, eg. make a tab for your goals: Lose Weight. Create another tab for your Work. A third one for your Projects and so on and so forth.
We saw Web Baker’s enthusiastic feedback about Daily Notes, about how he turned it into a great Time Management System app and we just have to ask him his thoughts on life, passions and of course, Daily Notes.
Tell us your background.
Spent three years in the Army and achieved the rank of Sargent. After leaving the Army, I got a job at Motorola. At Motorola, I worked in the Printed Wiring Facility, and was promoted to a Process Engineer, in my Senior year at ASU. I retired from Motorola, after (30) years and went to work for Maricopa County Environmental Services. Started out as a Microsoft Access Programmer, helping one Divisions modify/trouble shoot their databases. From there I went into Enforcement for a few years, ending up retiring from Business Services where I worked for and with the best ever people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I retired from there after (16) years in October 2014.
There would some point in one’s life where you will become a parent/ employee/ boss/ caregiver/ teacher/ accountant/ marketer and more, all at the same time. You have to deal with all these tasks and responsibilities all at once and it will become a struggle when you can’t balance the different areas of your life.
This is where compartmentalisation comes handy. It’s a “divide and conquer” process that allows us to wear multiple hats in a day to tackle and finish different responsibilities and tasks.
Compartmentatlization involves the following steps:
Organize the different aspects of your life. Home, work, hobbies, parents, redecoration, think of the different parts of your life that you tackle regularly. Create a tab for each in Daily Notes and label them accordingly, eg. blue tab for WORK, green tab for PERSONAL, purple tab for PERSONAL, etc.
Have trouble remembering the decision path? What your sales team said 2 weeks ago? What the issue is that needs to be solved for one of dozens of clients and products? Points you wanted to remember from our reading?
I recommend this app as a standard tool for everyone who has dialogues, meeting notes and decisions that need to be remembered and retrieved. I use it everyday, throughout the day in my management of 3 departments and keep track of progress, discussions and decisions across multiple projects. The power is in the easy capture and easy review.
